Alleged Bondi Gunmen Acted Independently and Received No Instruction in the Southeast Asian Nation, Investigators Confirm.

The pair of accused individuals who carried out the fatal incident at a Hanukkah gathering on Bondi Beach, which claimed 15 lives, reportedly operated independently, per Australian law enforcement.

Authorities further stated that Sajid Akram, 50, and his 24-year-old son Naveed Akram, 24, journeyed to the Philippines on 1 November. Their itinerary involved arriving in the main city Manila before traveling onward that same day to Davao City. The pair flew back to Sydney on 29 November.

No Evidence of Training During Stay

Authorities have stated the pair did not undergo any type of terrorist instruction or "planning" during their stay in the Philippines. Preliminary inquiries from local officials point to they "rarely left" their hotel.

The attack—declared Australia's deadliest firearm massacre since 1996—has been formally declared a act of terrorism.

"Our teams are actively reviewing the footage," she stated, noting that preliminary reviews suggest that "the alleged offenders are alleged to have been lone actors."

National law enforcement Commissioner Krissy Barrett told reporters on Tuesday that security camera video documenting the alleged gunmen's activities in the Philippines had been handed over to Australian investigators.

"There is little to no indication to support the idea these alleged offenders were part of a larger terrorist cell, or were instructed by overseas entities to execute an attack," the police chief stated.

In the wake following the shooting, border officials in the Philippines stated that the father had entered the country using an Indian passport, while his younger suspect used an domestic passport.
