Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in South America during November, as announced by palace sources.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.

The royal pair were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a environmental conference preliminary meeting arranged together with the UK government.

Climate Leadership Dedication

The King has been a long-time champion of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio ahead of the COP summit.

Palace insiders have described Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as stepping up an crucial position in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were introduced to participants featuring conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.

This involvement featured addresses together with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco earlier this year.

Environmental Prize Connection

The COP30 summit will align with the William's personal sustainability recognition program, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the day before he attends the climate conference on the sixth of November.

Last week the prince referred to the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".

Monarch's Environmental Record

King Charles has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks confronting humanity over planetary heating, global temperature increases and species extinction," the monarch informed participants.
